Day 11 |
Revolt in the Peloton.
In scenes similar to the unrest in Libya , rebel riders today staged a coup insisting the group stop for coffee at St Arnaud after only 60km. A spokesman for the rebels was quoted as saying, “I feel as though I’ve had ten successive Sunday rides.” This was the first time the riders stopped for more than five minutes on the trip. Fortunately, team harmony was restored and the next 100 km seemed to fly by. Our enthusiasm was lifted when four riders from Blenheim joined the group for the last 40 km into town. With nine riders in the pack, the Yarris and I were kepy quite busy

Tomorrow is a rest day so for the next two nights we are staying with a lovely couple in Blenheim. Ash and Shirley Thompson ( friends of rider John Blundel) have a beautiful home and garden on the river in town. Hazel has put her feet up and shoes away for the next thirty-six hours. A sleep in, followed by a walk is planned for tomorrow.
